So, we are super excited to report that The Eco-heroes and The Plastic Planet launched on World Clean Up Day in Magrudy’s Bookstore in Jumeirah. The place was packed with family, friends, neighbours, store customers and loads of kids who came to celebrate with us. The response was truly amazing with people travelling from the other side of the city and sitting in hours of traffic to come to see us. Thank you so much to the REAL Sundos for that surprise visit and to HH Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al Nuaimi (The Green Sheikh) for bringing his family to our event and buying a load of books!!!. We were thrilled!

There were plenty of sustainably sourced prizes (cue bamboo toothbrushes, reusable straws etc) to keep the kids engaged as well as illustrating, eco-heroes crafts and vegan cookies. The quiz, like the story highlighted how much plastic we use and practical ways to minimise it wherever we can. Thanks to the support of WWF for reviewing our messaging on plastic and ensuring it’s on point.

The UAE’s sharks and turtles were also part of the evening’s excitement as we put a spotlight on ocean conservation and the tremendous work of our partners at Azraq. Join them if you want to get involved.

Last but not least, thanks goes to our lovely, talented and very patient Arabic translator, Noura Al Khoori and editor, Sabah Deebi. They were so great to work with that we plan to smash many more Eco-Heroes goals together in the near future.

The Eco-heroes and The Plastic Planet is printed on recycled paper with vegetable inks using local suppliers.
